Uncaged by Katia Vlachos - Book Review

ARC from NetGalley

From start to finish this memoir was both gut-wrenching and heart-warming. Simplistic in writing yet profound in meaning, Katia’s story is so relatable not only for women living in foreign countries and away from family and friends, but all women who have ever felt metaphorically imprisoned in their lifetime. Reading Katia’s words, I couldn’t help recalling the last scene from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s – “…no matter where you run you just end up running into yourself…”. Although not her words, this theme runs rampant throughout the whole book, as Katia and her family move from place to place. The bravery and courage Katia displayed, not only in her actual life but also in putting it onto paper is astounding. I laughed, I cried, and by the end, I felt like a proud mother!

I would highly recommend this book for ANYONE in need of inspiration in changing their life, not just women.
